In terms of prestige and respect in the culinary world, the Bocuse d’Or is comparable to the Olympics. As an athlete trains for his or her discipline, for the chefs to perform at their best they must make great sacrifices and dedicate many hours to their preparation. The contest takes place in a theatre audience of thousands, made up of industry professionals, hospitality students and friends and families of the chefs taking part. A space at the front of the stage is reserved for the world’s media to have the best views of the food being presented and the event is filmed and broadcast live online and on TV channels across France and beyond.
