Simon Rogan creates Shepherd’s Pie for Fuller’s Managed Pubs and Hotels

Simon Rogan, in his role as President of Bocuse d’Or Team UK, has created a delicious Shepherd’s Pie to be served across the Fuller’s managed pub and hotel estate this spring in a bid to raise funds for the team.

As well as heading up the UK team in the world’s largest cooking contest, Simon is Honorary President of Fuller’s Chefs’ Guild and was asked to create a seasonal dish that will be launched in Fuller’s pubs in April.

The Bocuse d’Or is the world’s largest and most prestigious cooking contest - a gathering of the finest chefs from across the globe. On Thursday 24 March, Ian Musgrave, from The Ritz London, and commis chef Adam Beaumont, also of The Ritz, successfully competed at the Bocuse d’Or Europe against 16 other European nations to secure a coveted place in the Bocuse d’Or grand final in Lyon in January 2023.

Team UK relies on fundraising, donations and its generous sponsors to undertake the necessary preparations to compete successfully.

With restaurants in London, Windermere and Hong Kong including the three-Michelin starred L’Enclume in Cartmel, Simon might be one of the UK’s busiest chefs but he made time to elevate a homemade dish to his standards of cooking.

Says Simon, “Spring is a fantastic season for British produce and I’ve created a pie that’s packed with flavour and fits the pub food menu perfectly. I’m a great believer in using the finest local ingredients as they make all the difference when it comes to taste. I can’t wait to see my dish on Fuller’s menus and hopefully raise significant funds to help secure that place on the podium for Team UK.”

Fuller’s became a sponsor of the Bocuse d’Or UK Academy in October 2019. As part of the agreement, Fuller’s will be hosting dishes on their menus created by Bocuse d'Or UK chefs, with a donation from each dish sold going towards Bocuse d’Or Team UK. Simon is the first chef to prepare a dish and further seasonal dishes sold in support of the Bocuse d’Or will be added to the menu throughout the year.

Fuller’s Director of Food, Paul Dickinson says: “What better way to celebrate the arrival of Spring than with a Shepherd’s Pie created by a chef with five Michelin stars under his belt? Simon has created a recipe that will keep diners coming back for more - it’s comfort food at the highest level.”
